Virginia Classic
It is show season, and David just got back from the 2014 Virginia Classic. He took three alpacas (Elise, Wild Bells and Augustine) up to Lexington, Virginia to compete in the 25th anniversary Virginia Classic Alpaca Show. This alpaca show was the first we attended in 2005 when we were beginning to research raising alpacas, and is one we have participated in many times.
This year, our star of the show was Peaceful Heart Tennysons Wild Bells. She won First place in a class of 8 white juvenile female alpacas (6-12 months), then went on to win the Color Championship (against the first place white female winners of each age group). Wild Bells is out of Lord Tennyson and Snobelle, and is a lovely little girl. The judge commented on her correct conformation, fineness and great brightness.
Peaceful Heart’s Elise took Second place in her color group, and a First place with her younger brother Peaceful Heart’s Augustine representing their mother Lystra in the Produce of Dam class. Produce of Dam judges the consistency of quality of two offspring of the female entered (Lystra never even had to leave the farm to compete). Lystra is the foundation dam of our farm and has given us an incredible number of beautiful offspring, including Lord Tennyson. Finally, all three alpacas represented our farm in the Breeder’s Best Three category, and brought home another First place ribbon.
We are very proud of them, and David who attended this show by himself for the first time. He did a great job representing our farm, and caring for the alpacas.
