Shawl Pins
We carry a great selection of shawl and scarf pins made from several types of wood, bone and shell. They come in beautiful shapes, and are now displayed so you can easily choose from our complete collection. As part of the yarn shop remodel, we have dedicated a space to the shawl pins and sticks. We invite you to come by and see them, or to take a look at them all online.
Don’t have a shawl to show off these lovely pins? Then join us this year for one of our weaving seminars and create your own beautiful shawl.
TweetAlpaca Socks Made in the USA
We have added a number of new styles to our selection of American made alpaca socks. In addition to our popular therapeutic alpaca socks, which are available in seven colors and two sizes, we now have a wonderful alpaca sport sock with a mesh fabric and a ribbed arch support available in four sizes.
We also have added 5 new styles of ladies’ dress socks. They are designed and manufactured in North Carolina. Each are available in multiple colors with unique jacquard patterns. They are as soft and comfy as they are stylish.
One of our favorite new socks are the Cozy Feet alpaca socks. They are soft and fuzzy on the inside and have non-slip grippers on the bottom in the shape of running alpacas.
All of these Made in the U.S.A. alpaca socks use an approximately 50% alpaca yarn blend. Alpaca is a soft natural fiber known for its ability to keep you warm without overheating, stay dry by wicking away moisture, and its anti fungal properties.
Alpaca socks make wonderful gifts and special treats for your feet. You can see our complete selection of alpaca socks that are made in America in our farm shop or online. We also carry a great selection of alpaca socks made in Peru, including our popular alpaca boot socks with our farm name on the bottom.
TweetYarns and Rovings from Our Alpacas
Our alpaca yarns and rovings from the 2015 shearing of our alpacas have just arrived!! We have a great selection of yarns in white, gray, fawn, brown and black. We also have a few ‘candy striped’ alpaca yarns in fawn and white, and two shades of brown. This year, many of our alpaca yarns are in the baby and royal baby alpaca range, meaning they are incredibly soft to the touch, and a real joy to work with.
.
Our alpaca yarns and alpaca rovings are all natural, 100% alpaca. We don’t use any dyes in our alpacas’ fiber, and we include on the label the names and pictures of the alpacas who grew the fleece that goes into each yarn. You can see all these beautiful rovings and yarns from our alpacas online and in the store. The process from alpaca to yarn is a big part of what we do at the farm, and we love to share it with people. You can learn more about the shearing and sorting processes, as well as take a virtual tour of the fiber mill where we process our yarns and rovings in some of our earlier posts from our webpage.

TweetAlpaca Girls Move to Their New Farm
Two of our adorable alpaca girls just moved to their new farm. Summer Love and Snickerdoodle Twist are now living with the Millers on their farm.
The girls were a little nervous until they got their first taste of all that great new grass. They stopped eating long enough to look up as their new farm mates (cats and dogs) came by to greet them, but were soon back to eating.
Summer Love and Snickerdoodle Twist are two of our finest girls on the farm with AFDs of 14 and 15 microns. Karen is looking forward to creating beautiful felted items from their ultrafine fiber. (You can see examples of felting here.)
We have other beautiful alpacas for sale. Take a look at our male and female sales lists and let us know if we can help you find the perfect alpacas for your farm.

New Additions to a Growing Alpaca Farm
Congratulations to Randy and Tammy Williams on two new additions to their alpaca herd!
Last year they purchased one of our farm favorites, Obsydyan, as a companion for their alpaca Miracle. Many of you will remember Syd’s story of being adopted at 6 weeks after the sad loss of his mother Tequila. Syd’s sire was our beautiful gray herdsire Gryffyn.
This year they added the adorable Dante to their herd during our Alpaca Pen Sale. Dante is the son of our true black Champion herdsire Maximus and our sweet Ima Joy, who is also Syd’s adopted mom.
As Dante was getting settled in to his new home, they were blessed with the birth of Obsydyan and Miracle’s little girl, Misty Grey. Misty Grey reminds me of her grandsire Gryffyn. Below is a great picture they sent of the whole herd getting greeting their newest farm member.
TweetUpcoming Fiber Art Classes
We still have room for more to join us for a few of our upcoming fiber art classes. This month we added a Weaving on the Triangle Loom class to our schedule since the other classes filled so fast. Our August class is full, though there are a couple spaces available in our October class. This month you can join us July 24-26. We will begin on Friday evening July 24, weave all day Saturday & Sunday, and you will go home with a beautiful alpaca shawl that you designed and wove. The class is a lot of fun, you will have beautiful alpacas to watch as you weave, and there is great food throughout the weekend. We hope you can join us. For more information on the schedule and cost, click here. You can see pictures of our previous weaving classes here.
On August 1, we have a special class led by local artist Karen Carney. We will be weaving alpaca baskets out of thick alpaca rug yarn. These yarns are all made from the fiber of our alpacas, and come in a variety of natural colors. You can learn more about the Alpaca Basket Making class here, and see pictures from a previous basket weaving class here.
