It’s A Boy!
What a great way to start our fall cria season! We welcomed a beautiful little boy to the farm this morning. We have named him Peaceful Heart’s Wade R. in honor of my grandfather who would have celebrated his 108th birthday in just two days. My grandfather was a pastor who had a great influence on many people’s lives. Mom has been waiting for just the right alpaca to name after her father (our farm often names alpacas for family members, for example Henrietta Ruth, Bonnie Alice, Ima Joy, Vesta, Elise, Shareen, etc.). Our little Wade was born this morning during church, and is an adorable dark (possibly gray, though it is still hard to tell) boy with a white face and boots. His ears and a spot on his neck are definitely silver gray.
Wade is out of our lovely true black Espressa and beautiful Andean Silver. He is the half sibling of our previous Silver son Groucho Marx, and is just as cute. He is much smaller (just 13.4 pounds compared to Groucho’s birth weight of 22 pounds), but incredibly active for a brand new cria.
Wade and Espressa are in the front pasture with several of our other mom’s to be, waiting for more crias to come this season. We invite you to come by and watch Wade run around. You can see more pictures and a short video of Wade on our Facebook page. (You do not have to sign in to Facebook to see them.)
